Our Story
History behind starting a charitable organization, Empowerment Skills International Inc.:
In the year 2015 Rajasekhar Vangapaty (Professor and Registrar at Fashion Institute of Technology, SUNY) had an opportunity to interact with Indian rural students of all levels, from middle, high school students and professional colleges. Most of these students gave disappointment since there is no basic level of education/training to their respective grades/programs to meet the employment after their graduation.
There are so many so called professional graduates, in Engineering are doing nothing, some are doing clerical jobs and some are not able to get even clerical jobs. The major reason is, these graduates do not have, soft skills, nor professional Engineering skills to meet the requirement skill set to gain employment in their respective areas.
Another major issue, some of the graduated students from rural villages used to help their parents in their day to day field farming works before going to college. But after graduating from the college, neither they are helping their parents nor able to get any employment. Living in the illusion of false prestige! These children/graduated students have become burden to the poor parents because parents have to feed these so called educated/graduated young children, wasting their poor parent’s money and resources.
After going through the issues in the present Indian education system in Government Schools, Prof. Rajasekhar Vangapaty wanted to start a supporting method of teaching/training to the students of the Government Schools where the student are having zero recourses and economically from very poor families.
In 2015 a charitable organization, Empowerment Skills Inc. has been established and obtained 501 (c)(3), not for profit organization status with the following mission and vision.
